After One’s Passing… Only Mercy Remains

Imagine this scene:
In a distant village, after the death of an elderly sheikh, the locals leave him in an open courtyard. They do not wash him, shroud him, or perform the funeral prayer… The body is exposed to the sun and wind… Everyone passes by without memory or respect. Silence is heavy, grief has no ritual, and mercy is absent.

Elsewhere, in an ancient ritual, the dead are burned on a high fire… The body turns to ashes within minutes… As if life is completely forgotten, leaving no trace of the person except in the hearts of those still alive.

Islam offers a completely different option, beautiful, compassionate, and defying appearances:
The deceased is washed with pure water, with care and prayer; every step honors and refines the body.

They are wrapped in a clean shroud, with no distinction between rich and poor, ruler and peasant; all humans are equal before Allah.

A congregational prayer is performed for them, a prayer and mercy for the deceased, and a living lesson for the living: humility, compassion, purity, and piety.

All of this is not just ritual… but the wise commands of Allah, which cultivate hearts with mercy and remind us that a believer has value in Allah’s eyes that does not end with death.
""Every soul shall taste death"" [Al-Imran: 185]

Islam transforms death into a solemn scene, not just for our sorrow, but to teach us the meaning of faith, mercy, humility, and true serenity. Here, the power of belief is revealed: the person is shown mercy, washed, honored, and spiritual life continues for everyone, in the hearts of the living before the deceased.
